Date: Saturday 21st September 2024
Time: 10:30 - 16:30
Location: Ballina Arts Centre

Let’s Draw
Time: 8.30pm
Location: Hugh Ruddy & Co., Pearse Street, Ballina

The Live Drawing Project workshop is aimed at artists and others interested in learning about projection mapping and other related technology, including the animation of historic structures in Ballina which will bring the participants directly into the creative process as they contribute to the development of work for the Let’s Draw event later that evening at Hugh Ruddy & Co., Pearse Street, Ballina.

The Live Drawing Project is a French art collective that includes Maxime Touroute, Louis Clément, Maxime Hurdequint, Rémy Dupanloup and Guillaume Rahbari. They present events that create a large collaborative canvas on public buildings using state-of-the-art projection technology and give the public free access to software that they can use on their phone or tablet to make their drawings and have them appear in real time. This means that the content of canvas is constantly evolving. With the Live Drawing Project the public can create a collective artwork made of video projected drawings. The audience is invited to draw freely on their smartphones. Everyone can draw simultaneously. The drawings are video projected instantly on a wall. They appear, disappear, change colours, and move, creating a vivid composition both poetic and surprising.
Projections will also be livestreamed so that people can join in from home, draw online, and see their drawings appear by watching the livestream.
